Experimental Eye Research Institute

Our research group deals with clinical and experimental basic research in the field of ophthalmology.

The main focus in research lies in neurodegenerative diseases of the retina like glaucoma and age related macular degeneration as well as neuro-oncologic studies and studies on ocular involvements in systemic diseases like multiple sclerosis.

Current Research Projects

  • Project 1:
    Role of antibody involvement in the death of retinal ganglion cells in experimental glaucoma
  • Project 2:
    Importance of the T-cell response to ganglion cell death in an autoimmune glaucoma model
  • Project 3:
    Investigation of the causes of visual loss in an animal model of multiple sclerosis
