AEVR has released a new resource brochure

The six-page brochure entitled The Value of Federally Funded Vision Research−National Eye Institute (NEI) provides the latest information on eye disorder prevalence and medical costs, as well as the NEI-funded breakthrough research to save and restore vision.

The brochure on The Value of Federally Funded Vision Research-National Eye Institute includes the following sections:

  • The NEI Serves a Critical Role for All Americans
  • NEI Research Responds to Growing Vision Health Challenges
  • NEI Funding Has Resulted in Successful Commercialization of Products
  • NEI Research Responds to Vision-Related Quality of Life Challenges
  • Four Major Eye Diseases Chart: Eye Facts, Impact of NEI Research, and Researcher Perspectives (the four major eye diseases include Age-related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Diabetic Macular Edema/Diabetic Retinopathy, and Cataracts)

This useful new resource, developed by AEVR’s Decade of Vision 2010-2020 Initiative, adds greatly to the data available about the impact of vision disorders and how the NEI is addressing the challenges they present. This latest AEVR brochure joins two other major resource publications issued in 2012−The Value of Defense-Related Vision Research  and The Silver Book®” Vision Loss, Volume II, a compendium of published data on aging eye disease that was developed jointly with the Alliance for Aging Research.
