Cell Development & Disease Laboratory

Research group of Prof. Tom G. Cotter in Cork, Ireland.

The main focus of the research group is an exploration of the role of apoptosis (programmed cell death) in degenerative conditions of the eye.  Prof. Cotter and his team use a variety of in vitro and in vivo models.

Current Research Projects

Project 1:
Role of Nox generated hydrogen peroxide in survival signalling in the retina    

Project 2:
The role of Bim in photoreceptor degeneration.    

Project 3:
Regulation of photoreceptor survival by bFGF
