Experimental Ophthalmology

Our group focuses on the development of immune therapies against retinal degeneration. We are convinced that the imbalance of the local, retinal complement system is an important player in pathogenesis of retinal dystrophies. We concentrate on the basic mechanism of the complement system in retinal physiology and aim to develop drugs, which maintain the retinal immune homeostasis during aging.

Methodology

  • Molecular biology (recombinant proteins, qPCRs),
  • immunological techniques (Western, ELISA, Immuostainings),
  • we generate our own antibodies,
  • ERG measurements in mice,
  • RPE cell culture
