Retinal function and metabolism

The target is to study the relation between function, metabolism, and perfusion in the retina under various types of metabolic challenges, including hypoperfusion, hypoxia, and unstable glycemia, as seen in the diabetic retinopathy and the ocular ischemic syndrome, and in the presence of various genetic defects such as retinitis pigmentosa.

The group conducts clinical and experimental research in retinopathy and noninvasive techniques for assessment of retinal function and structure.
