European attitudes to science

A new study has been published assessing the attitudes of European citizens to science and research policy.

Europeans place high value in the science, acknowledging the value to society of new discoveries and improved education. However, there are also general misgivings about the potential harm that science can cause, in terms of environmental damage and genetic engineering.

The study also reveals broad support for more European co-operation in health, environment and security research.
