Substances found in cornea activate healing of blinding scar tissue

Two substances typically associated with brain neurons are involved in the healing process of the cornea in humans.

The discovery suggests that the substances, which are produced naturally in the cornea, could form the basis for a non-invasive treatment of corneal opacity. This according to a doctoral dissertation published at UmeƄ University in Sweden.
