ARVO/Alcon Early Career Clinician-Scientist Research Awards

The ARVO/Alcon Early Career Clinician-Scientist Research Awards are available to support researchers who are committed to a career as a clinician-scientist.

Up to five awards will be presented at the ARVO/Alcon Keynote Session on Sunday, May 3, 2009, in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. These awards support clinician-scientists engaged in basic or clinical vision research who meet the following criteria: 

  • Hold an MD or equivalent clinical professional degree;
  • Completed residency or comparable clinical training in 2003 or later; (Postdoctoral fellows and residents do not qualify );
  • Current academic faculty or comparable appointment;
  • In good clinical standing at current institution;
  • Committed to a career encompassing institutionally guaranteed protected time for research;
  • Currently working or have previously worked under the guidance of a mentor;
  • Attend ARVO 2009 and present work.
