Retinal information processing is investigated on cultured or dissociated cells as well as on retinal slices or ex vivo retina at the single cell level with the patch clamp technique or at a network scale with the multielectrode array recording technique.
Cultures of purified neurones or retinal explants are also used to develop neuroprotective strategies that are subsequently validated on animal models characterized on a morphofunctional platform (in vivo imaging, electroretinogram, behaviour).
