The Retina France Association, upon advice of its Scientific Committee, proposes to promote research and therapeutic applications in the field of retinal degeneration, and other eye conditions within the scope of rare diseases.
Grant applications must imperatively be sent as follows:

Identification of genes: structure and function. Broadband approaches. Correlations genotype - phenotype.
Search modulating factors and susceptibility. Gene expression during development and in the adult, in normal and pathological eye.
Expression, function and interactions of proteins.
Study of the pathophysiological mechanisms and of protection.
Stem cell biology.
Identification and characterization of natural patterns and creation of experimental models.
Development of methods for screening and prevention.
Innovative explorations of eye diseases. Neurophysiological studies.
Roles of multi-sensory and brain adaptability.
Any action towards the prevention and treatment from the knowledge of the natural history of diseases, genes, their products and pathophysiological mechanisms. For example: gene therapy, cell and tissue transplantation, pharmacological, biophysical and environmental approaches.
Optimization of residual visual abilities.
Substitution of vision by optical and electronic aids
Local contribution of therapeutic substances.
Some selected projects will be funded by other partner Associations
