This autumn, the European Commission began a full review of its flagship research and development (R&D) funding effort, the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The seven-year, EUR 52,500 million initiative is vital to the technological and scientific progress of thousands of universities, companies and research institutes, as well as to European competitiveness.
