Current Research Projects

  • Project 1: Characterization of Pericentrin in the retina
In this project I analyze the different splice variants of Pericentrin in the retina in vitro and in vivo. I am interested in the distribution and function of the Pcnt splice variants and their interaction partners at primary cilia and in photoreceptor cells.
  • Project 2: Characterization of Complexins in the retina
In this project I examine the cellular, synaptic and developmental expression of all four Cplx isoforms in the mouse retina.

Methodology

  • high resolution light and electron microscopy combined with immunocytochemistry
  • laser-microdissection
  • quantitative PCR
  • in situ hybridization
  • cell culture
  • western blotting
  • antibody characterization
  • recombinant protein expression
