The Rupp+Hubrach Award for Ophthalmic Optics 2017 was awarded to Sandra Wagner and her master thesis that she conducted in the ZEISS Vision Science Lab.
The 28. Rupp+Hubrach Award for Ophthalmic Optics was presented this year to Sandra Wagner from the University of Applied Science in Aalen. Her thesis entitled “Reducing the lag of accommodation by auditory biofeedback: A pilot study”, investigated possible training methods to enhance the accuracy of accommodation and was dedicated to the field of myopia research.
"I want to find methods to stop myopia onset and myopia progression", explains the awardee.
The thesis was done in the ZEISS Vision Science Lab under supervision von Dr. Arne Ohlendorf in the Ophthalmic Research Institute of the University Tuebingen, where the ZEISS Vision Science Lab focusses on the basic understanding of vision, using leading edge methods.
Dr. Siegfried Wahl, principal investigator of the ZEISS Vision Science Lab, points on key aspects of the successful thesis: "Sandra Wagner conducted the study to our research question excellent, very structured and diligent. This and her persistence are key factors for the success of her and the teams work. Additionally, the collaboration with Prof. Frank Schaeffel in the study is a great example of a successful and effective collaboration between different groups in the Ophthalmic Research institute."
